Yes, it is possible to report the date to later instead of cancelling. Life being as it is, it sometime's hard to predict events and I do my best to be understanding and accommodate you. Simply contact me as soon as possible when you know or expect you could not make it for the planned session. We will find another available date.
However, please note that the chosen date must be within a certain time limit. For example, we cannot postpone the date 2-3 times over a period of one year. I reserve the right to refuse postponing the date further or too far away in time. In such cases, cancellation is the only alternative. 1Please note that some fees may be applicable to compensate any related work done in preparation for your session. The amount would be deducted from the reimbursed amount.
According the Quebec law, the amount you already paid to reserve your session, is reimbursable. However, fees may be charged to cover for the work done and expenses in preparation for the session (research, discussions, rentals, accessories acquisition, etc.). These fees will be deducted from the amount already paid when reserving and the excess will be billed.
To reserve your date, a deposit of about 33% 2Usually rounded to a whole number. of the agreed total may be asked. This amount is used for any pre-shoot work done, in some cases, some expenses that might be required (location, accessories, etc.) and as an incentive to minimize the cancellations.
Yes. Even though I am not someone to rush and count time to the minute, if required, we can extend the session length. The extension is at an hourly rate.
Sometimes, when we need to cover various locations for the shoot, I might make an exception. The time to go from one place to the other would not be counted in the session time, but an extra amount can be added for each move. For example a $10 to $25 added depending on the distances. Keep in mind that the more we move around, go across the city, the more time we waste and ultimately, less time we might spend on shooting.
Please note that any extension to the session is also limited to any session following yours and time I need to prepare or drive for that shoot. So if you expect to need more time, it would be better to inform me in advance and then I can reserve more time to satisfy your request.
A personal or family session lasts about 1h30. It might go slightly longer , especially for a family session with many persons present. I never rush into completing the session. Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to me and we aim at achieving the expected quality. Usually, we can reach that goal within the allotted time.
A casting session is shorter and normally lasts about one hour. This gives us quite enough time to realize good images using various accessories and clothing changes. We can easily have 3 changes but not limited to that number. As long as we dont waste time changing all the time.
On average, a session will last about 2 hours, including the various changes in clothing. I do not impose a maximum on the changes. However, keep in mind the more changes there are, the less time we have to take pictures to achieve that perfect look and having a good selection. Typically, we keep the same mood (lighting type) throughout the session. There are times where we can play with that a little depending on time, the location and the desired poses. Otherwise, to achieve completely different mood/poses there can be an extra. See below.
The length of the session includes everything from the time taking the pictures, the changes but also any moving around we might have to do (for example, changing rooms, location, etc.). Changing lighting type also requires some time that is also included in the total length of the session.
Rest assured though, I am not working on a clock and putting pressure. Never will I ask to accelerate or push you into going faster or stressing you out. To be your best on ALL pictures, the more relaxe the setting is the more relax you’ll be. I prefer having less pictures that are good ones than aiming at more pictures in a stressed out environment. So, no timers ! As long as we work efficiently and seriously toward our goal. Lets have fun doing it !!
No. Before transmitting an image obtained in a personal session, hence not for a commercial usage, you are required to contact me, the sole owner of the distribution rights for these pictures, to either obtain a permission or to put me in contact with the targeted party, in this example here, the magazine, so an agreement can be reached with them directly. It is strictly prohibited to distribute any images other than for personal use.
There is no predetermined length to a commercial project. The time is normally estimated in the presented and approved quote. Since I never work with a timer, it is possible that we go a little beyond that estimated time while achieving the expected result. Since I do not charge by the hour, there is no need to rush work the finish within the allotted time. Quality is of the utmost importance. However, if the result and goal is reached before the estimated time, all the better and everyone is happy !
However, if, for reasons beyond my control, we need to add more time, there is a surcharge normally established in the submitted and approved quote.
For this type is session, the time is approximately 30 minutes.
When a picture is to be used in a commercial mode 3commercial here means for a profit, to have a gain. For example for selling a product or promoting oneself., the usage environment, the used medium for reproduction / distribution, the targeted market (local vs international), the print run, and so on, are all parameters evaluated for the usage of the picture. Based on these informations a cost for this usage is determined. That cost is independent on the actual work done to achieve the original picture as well as its preparation. It represents the normal copyright rights. The amount can also be long term or short term, being either recurrent or a one time payment. This is all established when buying the picture.
The photographer extend a usage authorization to the client in the form of a licence. Governed by the terms as determined with the aforementioned informations. But not limited to these.
This licence is between the photographer and his client and is NOT transferable to anyone else, except with the written consent from the owner, the photographer.
Such a licence is NOT required between a non commercial client and the photographer. Since no gain are made using the picture. However, before sending the picture to someone else, possibly some commercial entity, the client shall obtain the written permission to do so, or bring the parties in communication so a usage licence may be agreed upon.
In some cases, I can offer the possibility to add your branding or name on your images. We can discuss together to come up with the format or you can provide me the one you already have. When adding your own branding or signature on your images, my own signature is removed. Thus avoiding having to much texte and logos on your images. This option might be used for example for a musical band, an visual artist and so on ...
This is an chargeable extra. See the "Prices" page for the details.
Depending on the selected session type, my signature will be added in a corner of each images. The location of that signature is chosen in such a way not to affect the content of the image. It's discreet. However, if required, it is possible to deliver the images without it. For example, for boudoir session targeted for a commercial usage (portfolio) or special projects.
Otherwise, every pictures delivered sized and optimized for an online usage will get that signature. This is a way to discreetly watermark my image and sign my work.
This is a chargeable extra. See the "Prices" page for more details.

Yes, it is possible to render your face less recognizable for identity protection. Often times, the framing will help by not showing the face in the picture, or using natural blur caused by shallow depth of field. But when it is not possible or the face is clearly visible, it is possible to apply a blurring effect to make it less recognizable. The level of this effect is usually not that big and many times not so effective. But we can discuss to what extent you want this option. This option is free to help in protecting your identity.
It is possible to obtain a more magazine beauty look where hair may be enhanced, the eyes, the skin soften and skin corrections like aging marks, scars, etc. We agree together on the modifications to be made and how much of it beforehand. There is a $50/hr fee for these type of really involved corrections. We are indeed talking about retouching a picture just like it would be done for a magazine cover. I already mentioned before this is not the recommended choice for a portfolio (unless it is for a modelling portfolio). However, if this is something you are aiming for, I’ll be glad to discuss it further with you.
It is important to show you as you really are. But there might be various reasons for which you would like a particular and recognizable mark be removed or simply altered; like a tattoo for example. It is possible to either remove it or enhance it to your requirement on demand. There is an additional charge for this service. See the price list for details. We can discuss it together as needed.
Basic retouching is included with any photo session. My goal is to show you as beautiful as possible yet keep your natural apparence. The basic retouches includes light adjustments, contrasts and colours, some minor skin corrections, but alway retaining the realistically natural look. It’s always preferable for a portfolio to reflect the reality, be one self, but presented under the best light and angles. However, I am there to meet as much as possible your requirement, so if you do request more elaborated retouching, you can read the other questions and consult the "Prices" page.
